Horn of Africa Somalia

With famine in southern Somalia and more than 9.6 million people in  need of food assistance in the region, countless lives hang in the balance. Just 50 pence per day is enough to feed a hungry child or mother on the edge of survival. Somalia drought started  July 2011 also  So far it has killed 30,000 children but has affected more than 12 million people causing thousands to migrate south into Kenya.

drought and conflict have left millions of people needing food, water and healthcare. The UN says that in the last few months, tens of thousands of Somalis have died of causes related to lack of water ,malnutrition also Most of them were children.

 














People who have fled the drought in Somalia to camps near the capital Mogadishu have now been hit by days of heavy rain. Aid workers say five people, including three children, had died of exposure. A doctor told the BBC that people could not find shelter from the cold rain.
